Corona virus [covid-19] was first reported on December, 19 in China’s city Wuhan but in Pakistan the first case was reported on 26th February,2020. It is a deadly disease that has effected most of the people in Pakistan. According to the situation government immediately had taken major steps that include lock down. Lock down may had been a good option but for developed countries. Pakistan is under develop country where this pandemic has fully destroyed people mentally, financially and on every aspect.

In the initial stage of covid-19 out break, it’s seriousness was not realized correctly but with the passage of time teachers, students and government realized that they could not afford such a long disruption in studies.Under lock down online education was only option, for that education in Pakistan was fully converted to online education system. Various schools, colleges and universities started adoption of online mode of education. We have all technologies for online education therefore government have took step or online mode of education and online classes were launch from 16th of March, 2020. For that purpose teachers were trained that how to take online classes.

There are both positive and negative impacts of online classes as mentioned below:

Positive Impact:

If we see online education in positive way, we get various advantages that include global access and live lectures. It is advantage for those students who are living remotely. Another advantage of online education is saving time and money and also relief from physical fatigue. These advantages have been enjoyed by students and as well teachers. Another major advantage of online education is that all the record has been saved in software. These are only advantages of online education.

Negative Impact:

Now if we move ahead, there are also negative impacts of online education. Disadvantages includes poor internet connection in remote areas, students were unable to took online lectures due to poor accessibility of internet. Other disadvantages include cheating during online conduct of quizzes and examinations. This disadvantage put a great impact on brilliant students, students that were not into studies due to online examination they got good grades because they did cheating. This is a reason intelligent students were really disheartened and it destroyed the mental abilities of intelligent students, therefore they were not in fever of online education system. Another disadvantage is lack of lab experiments under supervision of lab engineers. Degree program in science and technology always need face to face lab experiments due to online education they couldn’t so. These all are disadvantages of online mode of education.

During lock down education is fully converted to online system, there must be different fee structure for face to face teaching and online mode of education. Online education cost less as compare to face to face teaching and along with that there must be good internet facility for students and for teachers as well.

Over all 77% students have negative perception towards online education. Students did not prefer online education over face to face education during lock down. Administration and faculty should have to take necessary measures for improving online education.
